Regrettably, but due to the unprecedented times we are in, we are having to postpone the Blackpool Gang Show 2020.
This decision has been taken in consultation and agreement with the Grand Theatre, District Commissioner and Gang Show Chairman. Currently, and as you are aware, the Scout Association does not permit us to have any “face to face” indoor meetings/rehearsals and we do not see this changing in time for us to be able to rehearse and put a Show on in October.
Additionally, maintaining any social distancing guidelines back stage and the fact that the Theatres have not yet been advised by the Government when they may be allowed to open, only compounds the viability of putting the Gang Show on.
On a more positive note, we have booked the Theatre for the week beginning the 24th October 2021 for our 59th Show, with our 60th Show now being in 2022. This will also be 60 years since the first Blackpool Gang Show was produced in 1962!
Do not despair though, and continuing on the positive theme, we do however intend to produce a “virtual” show the week that the Gang Show was planned 25th October. The details of how to participate/be involved in this and the format will be sent to all cast members who have “signed on” this year in the next 2 weeks.
We trust you understand and appreciate this decision with respect to the 2020 show, but consider this is the safest and appropriate decision, given where we find ourselves in today’s environment.
